Job summary

  • Manage present and future property development of retailing outlets, production and storage premises.
  • Review financial justifications, lease renewals and negotiations, remodels and new concepts.

General responsibilities

  • Manage departmental operating budgets and costs according to annual allocation to ensure efficient usage of resources, where applicable
  • Formulate property development policies to achieve brand and business objectives. Prioritize annual tactical plans to optimize the utilization of property development resources available
  • Evaluate property contracts/leases to increase coverage in strategic locations, outlining key expansions and modifications to support the business objectives
  • Negotiate with property agencies, landlords, third party contractors and service providers to secure fair terms on new/existing leases and amendments
  • Review information on new/existing retail markets and property development locations market-mapping. Conduct site evaluations/visits and analyze site suitability
  • Plan property development with stakeholders (i.e. allocation of space) and planning for future expansions. Ensure property development planning is aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure all property development processes are consistently followed to create an ability to build retail outlets with a premium consumer experience
  • Review periodical reports on cost-effectiveness and efficiency of property development initiatives. Present findings to management to optimize property development initiatives
  • Manage relationships with appointed property agencies, third party contractors and service providers to ensure effective management of property development initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Legal function to obtain appropriate legal advice for creation of property development and lease documentation

  • Manage and oversee team's delivery of team/function goals to drive execution against goals set
  • Drive and manage learning and development of team in the area of Property Development/Leasing and company behaviour to achieve team/function goals
  • Drive self-learning and improvement in the area of Property Development/Leasing and company behaviour as part of continuous learning

Job requirements

Functional skills and knowledge

  • Demonstrate knowledge of all competitive developing properties, areas, customer demographics and available media
  • Demonstrate knowledge in apparel-related property development, acquisition and leasing
  • Demonstrate experience in leading retail outlet expansion in existing and new markets
  • Demonstrate proficiencies in office productivity tools (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrate fluency in English, both written and spoken
